Day 1 Arrive Panama City
Upon your arrival at the international airport, you will be met by a Maxim Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Panama City.

Day 2 Panama City
Today's tour includes a drive around "Panama Vieja", the original city site founded by the Spanish and later pillaged by the pirate Henry Morgan. Afterwards, you will visit "Casco Antiguo", the walled Spanish colonial city of Panama built in 1673. Then, on to Amador Causeway, which unites three islands at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal. There will be time for shopping for Panamanian arts and crafts. Your afternoon will be free. In the evening, you will taken to the famous Las Tinajas Restaurant to enjoy a Panamanian dinner and a folkloric dance show.

Day 3 Panama City
Today your driver will meet you in the hotel lobby for an early morning transfer to Balboa Harbor, on the Pacific side of the canal. There you will board a ferry for a Canal Transit. As you approach the canal, you will view the Bridge of the Americas, the only structure that connects both sides of the mainland. Breakfast and snacks are included while you are aboard the ship. An English-speaking guide is onboard and will narrate the dramatic story of the building of the Panama Canal, which was completed by the US between 1904 and 1914. A full crossing is scheduled, allowing you to enjoy the cruise all the way to Colon City on the Caribbean Coast. You will reach Colon at approximately 5:00pm and return to Panama City by bus in the late afternoon.

Day 4 Panama City/Gamboa
Depart your hotel early in the morning for a tour of the rainforest at Soberania National Park. You will have the opportunity to see birds, mammals and the tropical rainforest at its best. Lunch is included. In the afternoon, transfer to Gamboa Rainforest Resort, where you will spend the rest of the day on your own exploring the area.

Day 5 Gamboa
Spend the day exploring the area or relaxing at the spa, in the pool or on Gatun Lake. Optional tours include aerial tram, night tours, birding tours, kayaking and fishing. Overnight at Gamboa Rainforest Resort (B)

Transfer to the international airport for your international flight home.

Day 1 Panama City/Kuna Yala Forest
Depart this morning for Burbayar Lodge, located in the mid-altitude rainforest of Kuna Yala in the eastern foothills of Panama. This is a place to enjoy nature, walk in the rainforest and experience incredible birding. In the afternoon, hike with a local guide along a nature trail, featuring 17 tree species used by the Kuna Indians for medicinal purposes. Enjoy a delicious dinner and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of primitive nature surrounding you.

Day 2 Kuna Yala Forest/Nalunega Island
Breakfast early and then begin your trek to the coast of Carti in Kuna Yala, about 13 miles away. A box lunch included. This hike takes 6-8 hours depending on the physical condition of each hiker. At the Carti River Bridge, a boat will be waiting to transfer you to Río Abajo and the San Blas Islands in the Caribbean Sea. From there, your group will be transferred to Hotel San Blas on Nalunega Island.A dinner of fresh seafood will be waiting for you.

Day 3 Nalunega Island
Rent or bring your own snorkeling gear to explore nearby reefs or relax in your hammock. Get to know the Kuna community of Nalunega. Tour to a neighboring island where you can swim in crystal waters, snorkel or search for unique seashells.

Day 2 Panama City
After breakfast, visit a paradise found in its purest form. This tour leaves Panama City at 8:30 AM and begins with a drive to the Corotu Pier, then a ride in a "piragua" (a native boat) along the route commonly used by the Indians for their daily transport along the Chagres River. Afterwards, hike through the forest with a local indigenous guide, who will explain botanical novelties and about the culture of this authentic Chocoe-Embera village. In the village, the tribe will share their culture through dances, rituals, food and more. You will have the opportunity to try "jagua", body painting with vegetable ink. You will arrive back in Panama City at approximately 4:00 PM.

Day 3 Panama City
This excursion begins early in the morning with a two-hour drive along the Pan-American Highway to the beautiful mountain town of El Valle de Anton, in the province of Cocle. According to geologists, El Valle is the crater of a dormant volcano, probably the largest in Central America. Having pleasant climates, this picturesque valley rises 600 meters above sea level. This small town also has a variety of attractions such as Indian petroglyphs, hot springs, waterfalls, rock climbing and a variety of hikes for all abilities. Upon arrival, visit the picturesque Sunday Indian Market where large selections of native and national handicrafts are for sale.
After lunch at a local restaurant, the tour continues with a visit to the ancient petroglyphs of the El Chorro Macho Waterfall. From here, you will go on a zipline canopy tour, which offers the opportunity to observe the forest from a new, adventurous perspective. The canopy adventure begins as you are harnessed onto a suspended cable connecting four platforms high in the trees. Glide from platform to platform, stopping at each platform to observe the forest from above. Return to Panama City in the late afternoon.

Day 4 Panama City/Contadora Island
Transfer from your hotel to Albrook Municipal Airport for a short flight to Contadora Island, the Pearl of the Pacific.This is the fifth largest of the 220 Pearl Islands and was discovered by Balboa in 1514. The island's name originated from "La Contadora", a counting house in Spanish where pearls were counted before shipment to Spain. Today, the island is one of Panama’s premier leisure destinations featuring fishing, diving and snorkeling.

Day 2 Panama City / Gamboa
Visit Pipeline Road, in the heart of the virgin lowland rainforest of Soberania National Park. Pipeline Road is considered one of the best birding spots in the world because of its easy accessibility and amazing variety of nearby bird species. During the Audubon Society’s Christmas Bird Count, more than 300 species were spotted here in a single day. Vital to the Panama Canal, this protected watershed area boasts outstanding biodiversity. After lunch, visit the Panama Canal and witness massive ships being raised and lowered by the forces of nature.

Day 3 Gamboa / Boquete
Early morning transfer by airplane to David, located in the western province of Chiriqui. Upon arrival, transfer by car to the picturesque mountain town of Boquete known for its flower festival and coffee growing industry. Enjoy an afternoon in the beautiful Chiriqui highlands. An optional tour of a private flower garden and a coffee roasting facility are available upon request.

After an early breakfast, explore the trails around the Baru Volcano National Park. At an elevation of 11,000 feet, you will have the opportunity to see the elusive and resplendent Quetzal in its habitat of orchids and bromeliads. A box lunch will be included during your walk.

Day 5 Boquete / Cerro Punta
After breakfast, drive to the west side of the volcano, Cerro Punta and Friendship National Park which shares a border with Costa Rica. This park was recognized in 1982 as a Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will take you on a fascinating walk through the park.

After breakfast, visit the Hartman Farm and Lakes for orchid observation. These tropical highlands support a rich diversity of orchids, ferns, bromeliads and tillandsias, many of which are pollinated by hummingbirds. Box lunch is included.

Day 7 Panama City
After breakfast, you will be transferred to David for your flight back to Panama City. Transfer to hotel upon arrival. The afternoon will be free for relaxing and shopping. Dinner and folkloric dance show at Tinajas Restaurant.

Transfer by motorized dugout canoe to the lodge located on the island of Nalunega. This rustic but charming hotel is managed by the Kuna community and has capacity for 24 guests. Fresh water showers and toilets are outside of the rooms.

Day 4 Bocas Del Toro / Gamboa
Depart from your hotel early in the morning for the transfer to the airport. Board the flight back to Panama City. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to the luxurious Gamboa Rainforest Resort, constructed on the banks of the Chagres River located near Lake Gatun at the mid-point of the Panama Canal. Here you will be surrounded by lush tropical forest, yet only 45 minutes from Panama City.

Today’s adventure takes us to an indigenous village in the Charges National Park. We will board a motorized canoe to reach the community.
